Three people were forced from their 198 Saffron Circle home Saturday afternoon when an apparent car fire in an attached garage extended into the home. All of the occupants were able to escape the burning house uninjured.
Springfield Fire Department spokesperson, Capt. Drew Piemonte said investigators from the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad are working to confirm the cause.
Fire units responded to the 4:10 p.m. alarm to find the garage structure fully involved in flames. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the garage end of the one-story, ranch-style home.
Piemonte said the two adults and one child living in the home are being aided by the American Red Cross with living and material assistance.
