SPRINGFIELD – Nine tenants were displaced early Tuesday afternoon after a fire broke out in the bathroom wall of a home in the Pine Point neighborhood early Tuesday afternoon.
The blaze was reported shortly before 12:50 p.m. at 32-34 Manilla Ave., Dennis Leger, aide to Commissioner Bernard Calvi said.
Firefighters found fire inside a second floor bathroom wall. A woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of anxiety.
Four tenants were displaced from No. 32 and five tenants were displaced from No. 34. The Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is aiding those displaced.
The blaze, which caused an estimated $40,000, is being investigated by the Springfield Arson & Bomb Squad.
