(WWLP) - Firefighters saved a cat while they battled a house fire in Springfield. The fire started at the one story house on 58 Slater Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Fire Spokesperson Dennis Leger told 22News the homeowner was working and not home when the fire started. There is $90,000 worth of damage from the fire. The homeowner tried to salvage what he could and is now staying with relatives in the area. The fire is still under investigation.
